Trainer Program Abstract
Presentation and characteristics of the “Trainer Program” software, designed to carry out anthropometric and functional evaluations of numerous corporeal parameters, with the possibility of creating suitable training programs to improve performance.
Trainer Program is a software for anthropometric and functional evaluation, which can be used on individuals from a wide sector of the population, whether they are physically active or sedentary.
Apart from such an evaluation, the same application can be used to elaborate a training program created to meet a myriad of objectives that will be analysed in the following.
Naturally, the elaboration of the training program will take into consideration evaluation parameters that cannot be disregarded, enabling, in the end, to manually intervene to bring about possible changes.
The personal data of the software users generates an interesting data base, which is useful for requesting an automatic comparison of each individual parameter, collected at different times.
The latter is suitable for evaluating if the subject is benefiting from increases or decreases in performance, if his or her fitness condition has varied and, if so, for determining the direction and quantity of the variation, both in percentage and absolute terms.
Trainer Program stands out for countless characteristics compared to seemingly similar software.
First of all it is able to make numerous evaluations with a sole research software.
It is a software that requires few measurement tools in order to make evaluations (normally a flexible measure, a scale and a chronometer are enough).
It uses such a range of formulas and correction indices to give results that it can be used on both sexes, starting from 14 years of age up to over 70 (assuming that health conditions allow).
For each test performed it displays the importance of the parameter it will record, the instructions on how to carry out the test and possible warnings or contraindications.
The data processing, apart from providing a numerical result, gives a verbatim comment that enables anyone to better understand and appreciate the result itself.
It permits filing and comparing the data, and processing them for statistical purposes.
Finally, but not less important, it generates a suitable training program in order to optimize performance, displaying, for each exercise indicated, images of the correct execution and the description of the exercise, from a mechanical and respiratory point of view.
In conclusion, as previously mentioned, the training program elaborated by the software can be easily modified manually by the operator, apart from being saved with the related changes made.
It has been designed to have a user friendly interface, it is extremely intuitive and its use does not require particular skills.
Trainer Program has been created for use in both sports centers, such as gyms and swimming pools, and at home by a few users at a time. Furthermore, subsequent implementations already being studied will make it an important tool in statistical research.
Use in sports centers enables also taking advantage of its user data base, which is presented with salient data (addresses and personal data) of each individual registered, apart from a photograph that facilitates recognition.
Software research areas
The Trainer Program enables evaluating all of the elements listed in the following:
- Body mass index
- Evaluation of corporeal composition in percentage and absolute terms (with or without the use of a plicometer)
- Evaluation of ideal weight
- Estimate of the >average daily caloric requirements of the subject
- Theoretical maximum cardiac frequency
- Evaluation of the maximum aerobic output, of the anaerobic threshold, of the training characteristics to be carried out in virtue of the desired result
- Evaluation of speed endurance
- Evaluation of maximal strength
- Evaluation of explosive strength
- Evaluation of articular movement
- Evaluation of cardiovascular adjustment capacity
- Evaluation of training cardiac frequency (in virtue of the required results)
- Evaluation, for each of the parameters considered, of the variations between a time interval, in order to verify the efficacy of the training
- Creation of a training program directed at weight loss, increasing strength, increasing muscular mass, increasing endurance, and toning muscles.
Each of the parameters found is automatically commented upon by the software that interprets the result. For each finding the explanation of the procedure appears for the execution of the test.
The elaboration of the training program takes into consideration the skill and training level of the subject (beginner, intermediate, advanced), the sex, age, days available for training, and his or her cardiac frequency.
The training program also enables printing the illustration of the exercises and their explanation.
The software is equipped with over 100 exercises, including descriptions on execution and breathing. Furthermore, it allows eliminating, adding or modifying a very high number of exercises.
Finally, as previously mentioned, subsequent implementations will enable collecting and processing data on an extremely vast population sample, such as to permit interesting statistical applications and the updating of current reference parameters of the different motor skills found.
