The massage against stress

Fatigue? Fight it with a good massage. More and more often stress and daily routine leave us at the end of the day with a sense of constriction and tiredness.

In these cases a good message can work wonders, soothing numbness, relaxing muscles and alleviating physical and psychological stress. So why not resort to this revitalising practice which can rediscover one of the most important senses? A proper massage helps the body to release endorphins, the true source of vitality and good health, with pain killing action. The benefit of massage is easily explained, also from a physiological point of view. In every square centimetre of the body surface, over a million nerve endings are contained, so you can imagine the great stimulation in massaging vast areas of the body.

Massage can also be self administered, in the privacy of your own home, perhaps with the help of specially studied oils. Among these and used most is sweet almond oil which is particularly light, tends not to grease and is easily absorbed by the skin. Just arm yourself with a bit of goodwill to draw great benefits, through simple and natural motions. Moreover a good massage can reactivate peripheral circulation, soothe contractures (typical of sports people), limit venous and lymphatic stases, ease respiration and fight cephalea. The only contraindications are to be sought in certain moments, which are not really of use to this practice. Suffice it to say during fevers, rashes, infections, in cases of hypotension or particular pathological situations. Finally you should avoid massaging zones with anastomosis like the popliteal and armpit cavity, or the elbow fold.
