Want to win? Dress in red

According to a study which appeared in Nature a few weeks back, the colour red could be at the base of many victories in the sporting field. The research was carried out by Russell Hilll and Robert Barton, anthropologists of the English university of Durham.

This unique discovery came out of the analysis of some olympic competitions where the athletes who did best were wearing red outfits. Statistically the victories for the sports people in red were 60% more than those in other colours. According to the researchers the colour red may have psychological and physiological influences, intimidating adversaries and increasing the production of testosterone in who wear it.

However the same researchers warn that of course it’s not enough to dress in red to win against physically stronger and more prepared adversaries, but only for competing between athletes of the same level.
