Didactics: general aspects
As for every discipline, the didactic choice must aim at reaching the best results in the least time possible. This objective can be reached by fully exploiting all types of teaching known. The most commonly used methodologies are:
- analytical teaching, which foresees breaking up a given exercise into simple elements to then put them back together again in the complete execution;
- global teaching, which, on the other hand, foresees studying and learning the exercise as a whole.
It is clear that both methods are characterized by positive and negative aspects. The first, even though learning is more efficacious, requires considerable time and energy, even only for the search for parts making up the exercise. The second, faster and less costly, can hide conceal greater difficulty in learning quickly.
That said, it is the task of the trainer to evaluate, each time, the most indicated methodology. If one is working with numerous groups of students, using a training circuit is particularly indicated, which will decrease the waiting time in front of the equipment and will stimulate motivation. It will make the work seem almost a game, without inducing boredom and guaranteeing the right recovery times. In this case, the role of the trainer will be to supervise, making the students feel more autonomous and responsible.
To prevent trauma and accidents it is advisable to assist the students, above all in the first approaches with the exercises.
This assistance can be either indirect or direct. The first is characterized by an intervention by the trainer with regard to the equipment, that means arranging it in an opportune way in order to prevent accidents; the second foresees an active role with regard to the students. The trainer’s task will be to help the athletes master the correct execution technique by manually helping them with the movements.
The trainer must be a reassuring figure, who frees the student of any worries. Optimizing training requires valid work planning, with quite a long timeframe on average, more or less close to a year.
